My friend from college, Zoe Reifel, came to stay in my basement in Brooklyn for Summer 2019. Months later, inspired by our summer, she conceived the concept for a new website: Hometown. Another friend, Matt Querdasi, built the website, and I now act as editor of submissions.

The site allows you to tour new cities virtually, as if you're visiting a close friend who grew up in that area. We collect tips and stories about the best places to visit from locals, and publish them so that readers can understand what makes their hometown the greatest place on earth.

I’m biased, of course, but I think Hometown is a really lovely way to “travel” when actual travel isn’t an option—and all with an authentic guide by your side!
